The digestive benefits of A2 protein milk
You might love milk, but it might not love you back. If you’re familiar with the bloating, cramps and other unpleasant things that milk and dairy products can cause, but you can’t give them up in your cuppa, cereal or smoothie, you should meet A2 protein milk.
What is A2 protein milk?
Let’s start with the basics. A2 protein milk is cow’s milk that only contains A2 protein. Cow’s milk is made up of 2 proteins: whey and casein. Casein makes up about 80% of the protein in milk and there are different types of it, including beta casein. There are also different types of beta casein proteins. The most common are A1 and A2.
Normal milk contains a mix of A1 and A2 beta casein proteins. But A2 protein milk, as the name tells you, only contains A2 beta casein protein. A2 beta casein protein is produced completely naturally by some types of cows, like our jersey cows. There’s absolutely no genetic engineering going on to make our cows produce our delicious A2 protein New Zealand milk. In fact, historically, cows produced milk that only contained the A2 beta casein. So, A2 protein milk takes you back to drinking milk the way that cows (and nature) intended.

Why A2 protein milk might be better for your digestive system
When A1 protein is digested, it creates a protein fragment called beta-casomorphin-7 (BCM-7). Some scientists reckon this is what causes dairy to upset your digestive system. But when A2 protein is digested, BCM-7 isn’t created.
Nutrition Journal published a 2017 study that found that participants who labelled themselves as lactose intolerant and drank A2 protein milk experienced less digestive discomfort (think bloating, gas and abdominal pain) than when they drank normal milk.
Plus, Kelsey Lane Creamery director Jake has personally experienced the benefits of A2 protein milk for his sensitive stomach. He says:
DID YOU KNOW?
100% of our customers loves our milk a lot.
Yay!I’ve had a personal struggle with lactose intolerance, but I love milk on my cereal and in my coffee. When I drank normal milk, I used to develop eczema and bowel problems. I tried for years to find a suitable alternative until I found A2 protein milk. Now I reckon anyone who’s struggling should try A2 protein milk just once and see the difference!
